With the input of its avid track focused customers, the Pagani team has created the Zonda R using bespoke engineering solutions to meet the performance<br />
demands for a trackday version of the highly popular Zonda F.<span id="more-9881"></span></p>

<p>The Zonda C12 F debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is the most extensive reengineering of the Pagani car yet, though it shares much with its predecessors including the 7.3 L V12. Power is increased to 602 PS (443 kW; 594 hp) with a special clubsport model producing 650 PS (480 kW; 640 hp). The company promises a 3.5 second sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h), a top speed over 215 mph (346 km/h). The Zonda F clubsport has a power to weight ratio of 528 bhp/ton (384 W/kg). An Enzo Ferrari, comparatively, has a power to weight ratio of 483 bhp/ton (356 W/kg).</p>
<p>The top speed can be further tweaked by adjusting the aerodynamic settings. 215 mph (346 km/h) is the car&#8217;s top speed on the setting for the best handling which provides the most down force but also has the highest drag coefficient. If the aerodynamic settings were adjusted the top speed would be a bit higher. This also seems to be the reason that when EVO Magazine attempted the Pagani Zonda S&#8217;s top speed on the Autobahn, that they were only able to get the car to 197 mph (317 km/h), as opposed to its claimed top speed of 220 mph (350 km/h). It would make sense that if the car was set up for maximum downforce then its top speed would drop to around 200 mph (320 km/h). Company representatives at Pagani&#8217;s factory backed up this claim. However, the EVO article claimed that aerodynamic parts, specifically ones which created drag were in fact removed during the run, bringing Pagani&#8217;s claims into question.</p>

<p>The interior has been designed to offer a perfect environment for the driver. The controls are limited to the indispensable, but the quality finish reflects the usual demanding Pagani standards. The bespoke Toora seats are FIA homologated and comply to latest HANS standards, five-point safety belts and a CrMo roll-cage assure the occupants’ safety.<br />
The lucky owners of the Zonda R will experience a level of performance on the track, that is simply not possible on the road. A power-to-weight ratio of 701 hp-per-ton will catapult them from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2,7 seconds, the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes ensure the car comes to a standstill even quicker.<br />
The Zonda R is built in a limited production run and sold at a price of 1.460.000 Euro plus taxes, a performance machine, a track toy, a collectors item, a masterpiece signed by Horacio Pagani.</p>
<p>Legendary Italian supercar-maker Pagani first showed us its track version of the Zonda at the Vienna Auto Show in January and now they have released full specifications and plenty of photos. Called the Zonda R, this track-only machine weighs just 2,359 lbs and makes 750hp!</p>

<p>The Zonda F Clubsport lapped the Nürburgring, in 7 minutes 27.82 seconds, beating the Porsche Carrera GT. It was since surpassed by the 2009 Corvette ZR1 on 7 June 2008, with a time of 7 minutes 26.4 seconds.[2] With Marc Basseng at the wheel the Zonda F CS has set a new time around the Nürburgring, lapping the 12.9 miles (21 km) Nordschleife in 7:24.7 now only surpassed by the Maserati MC12 which set a time of 7:24.3, the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR with a time of 7:22.1. and the Radical SR8LM with a record time of 6:48.</p>
<p>Production of the Zonda F will be limited to 25 cars, not US compatible. The next model (codenamed C9), due to be unveiled in 2009, will be fully EPA/DOT compatible.</p>

<p>Making the car a true track machine is the fully adjustable suspension, as well as adjustable aerodynamics. Pagani says the Zonda R can be set up to produce as much as 3,307 lbs of downforce &#8211; which is, theoretically, enough to to allow the Zonda R to drive upside down and still stick to a surface.</p>
<p>Alternatively, the car can be adapted for high speed, with a top speed rating of 217 mph.<br />
As this is a dedicated track machine, the Zonda R comes equipped with a roll cage and an FIA homolgated racing seats with five-point safety belts.</p>
<p>Other state-of-the-art items include Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and an inconel exhaust &#8211; the same sort of exhaust used of Formula 1 cars.</p>
<p>The Pagani Zonda R will be produced in a limited number with Horacio Pagani signing each vehicle. The cost of ownership is extraordinary, with an MSRP of 1,460,000 Euros or roughly $1.9 million.</p>

<p>The Zonda F, named after Formula One driver Juan Manuel Fangio, comes with an extra head light and different fog lights at the sides, new bodywork (revised front end, new rear spoiler, more aerodynamic vents all around) that improves the cars aerodynamics and different side mirrors. Further enhancements over the &#8216;S&#8217; centre around optional carbon/ceramic brakes developed in conjunction with Brembo, magnesium wheels, inconel titanium exhaust system, hydroformed aluminum intake plenum and a redesigned &#8216;Z preg&#8217; weave in the crash structure to improve rigidity and reduce weight.</p>

<p>The Roadster F is able to maintain chassis rigidity without any gain in curb weight by eschewing conventional thinking by not strengthening the sills &#8211; a process which would have needed more than 35 kilograms (77 lb) of reinforcement. Pagani instead uses racing car thinking, materials and construction techniques, strengthening the firewall structure of the chassis tub together with billet alloy braces that connect the points where the roof rails would have joined. The windscreen is also strengthened for safety reasons. These techniques enable the Roadster to have virtually the same weight as the coupe, 1,230 kilograms (2,712 lb).</p>

<p>The 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque is a super special limited edition&#8211;as in only five (5) of these ridiculous Italian sports cars will be produced. Italian supercar maker Pagani has had a hit with the handbuilt Zonda series, which are so exclusive that they are selling for far more than their greater-than-$1 million base price.</p>
<p>The 2009 Zonda Cinque flies, with a Mercedes AMG-sourced engine crammed into an ultralight body made of carbon-titanium fiber, a material developed in conjunction with Pagani just for the Zonda Cinque. Weight savings and drivetrain refinements allow the Zonda Cinque to rocket from 0-100 km/hr (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds, faster than&#8230; almost anything.</p>

<p>No word on whether the five limited-edition 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque supercars are accounted for, but don&#8217;t bet on getting one. The price? A cool 1 million Euros. Plus tax.</p>
<p>A project born to satisfy the request of the Pagani dealer for Hong Kong &#8220;SPS&#8221;, an incredibile car which will be produced only in 5 (five) limited pieces, already all sold and will be street legal. It will be the first Pagani car to be equipped with sequential gearbox manageable both with paddles behind the steering and with the traditional gear stick on central tunnel.</p>

<p>Besides, it will be the first Zonda to use the new Pagani invention, the carbon-titanium, a special fiber purposely created for the Zonda Cinque, which will be eventually used on the new generation models. This monster has 678 hp, 780 Nm torque, forged monolock titanium wheels, bolts and nuts will fully be done in titanium and boast the Pagani logo.</p>
<p>The interiors are refined and at the same time reveal the sporting attitude of this car. Racing leather seats developed by Toora, 4-points seatbelts and molibden steel roll-bars with carbon fiber coating.</p>
<p>The Zonda Cinque total weight will be 20 Kg lighter then the F model, will have new Pirelli tyres, with special compounds for the car.</p>

<p>Suspensions and springs will be in ergal and titanium developed with the latest technology from Öhlins, in accordance with the Pagani specifications. Four different settings, 10 adjustments each, to separate high and low frequencies, both in compression and extention.</p>
<p>The body is equipped with a longer front spoiler, new designed rear wing, central air intake on monocock, extra air intakes for rear brakes. Flat bottom and new rear air extractors will improve the downforce up to 750 Kg at 300km.</p>

<p>During the outset of the Zonda project, Juan Manuel Fangio consulted and influenced Horacio Pagani on every aspect of the Zonda. Horacio says Fangio had great &#8216;technical sensibility&#8217; and was a major source of inspiration for his car. Thus, it should come to no surprise that Pagani&#8217;s latest work pays tribute to the late Fangio, a world champion five times over.</p>

<p>Zonda F is a special edition car that will be built alongside the regular production model. It takes the modifications adapted to the C12-S Monza and refines them into a more appealing package. As a result the Zonda F is lighter, more powerful and faster than its predecessor.</p>
<p>Aerodynamics play large role in shaping Zonda&#8217;s new car. More traditional devices include a one-piece fixed wing which now gets undisturbed air thanks to relocated mirrors. To help airflow underneath, a larger front splitter and rear diffuser with twin stabilizing wings create even more downforce. At the front of the Zonda F is a much larger air intake to increase cooling effectiveness of the more potent V12 engine.</p>

<p>To give the Zonda F more power, a new induction system is used which replaces the standard Mercedes-Benz unit. It features larger intake apertures and, when combined with a larger, hydroformed exhaust, the 7.3 liter Mercedes-Benz engine reaches 620 bhp. This is up from 550 achieved with the standard Mercedes intake. A clubsport model is available as an option which increases power to 650 bhp @ 6200 rpm.</p>
<p>The chassis receives several upgrades which lighten both the overall and unspung weight of the Zonda. Newly designed 19 and 20 inch wheels make room for much larger brakes which can now be ordered in a ceramic compound for the first time. Combined with the titanium wheel nuts, and various trimmings of the carbon fiber tub, the Zonda F weighs 1230 kgs without liquids.</p>

<p>After all these changes it should come to no surprise that Pagani has made a much superior Zonda. With 650 bhp on tap, the clubsport model should easily rival cars including the Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari Enzo.</p>
