The HCD-9 Talus is the latest in Hyundai’s line of concept vehicles that serve purely as design exercises. This one is billed as a sporty car, but it has roughly the shape and size of an Infiniti FX or Audi Allroad Quattro, which would put it in a category that was briefly called “sedan/SUV crossover.” Though it has only four seats, it also has four doors, furthering its identity crisis.
Nevertheless, the HCD-9 Talus certainly qualifies as an aggressive vehicle. Swoopy lines throughout make it look as if it’s ready to launch, and the large eggcrate grille befits the V-8 engine behind it. Hyundai says it gave the car greater ground clearance to take on rough terrain.
There are no plans to build the HCD-9 Talus as a production vehicle, but the inside word from Hyundai is that styling cues might show up on the next-generation Tiburon.
