The Troy Lee Designs “Phobia” CX-7 takes the all-new 2007 CX-7 to the extreme by creating a piece of art that uses the CX-7 as the artist’s canvas. The exterior features custom paint by Troy Lee Designs, with paint prep and detailing by L&G Enterprises, paint material by PPG and body modifications by South End Kustoms, to create an exterior design that is truly distinctive. To give the CX-7 a high-performance look and feel, 20″ Volk Wheels, 255/45-20 Yokohama Tires and window tinting by A-1 Tinting were added. ![]()
Performance inspiration is derived from Touring GT racing and rally racing. Suspension modification by Eibach Springs, cross-drilled big brake kit by Wilwood Engineering and custom brake fabrication by JD Performance builds upon the CX-7’s already superior handling performance. Other performance components include an off-center hood scoop, bigger turbo with more boost and larger intercooler, wider in-bumper intakes and larger front grille.
Inside, custom leather seats by Katzkin and custom floor mats by Intro-Tech Automotive take the CX-7 to new levels of creativity. And if you didn’t get enough Phobia from the outside, there’s plenty more inside. In addition, an Azentek 2DIN radio replacement PC that includes navigation, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, voice-activated Internet and e-mail capability and an AM/FM radio completes the package.

Launched in May, 2006, the 2007 CX-7 is a highly styled crossover SUV with a decided soul of a sportscar. Produced entirely on Mazda-derived platform architecture, the five-passenger CX-7 embodies an astute blend of sports car verve and SUV practicality, resulting in a fun-to-drive SUV that represents everything a Mazda SUV should be.
Prominent front fenders, A-pillars rooted at the body’s leading edge, a sharply raked windshield and Mazda’s signature five-pointed grille clearly register this new model as a Mazda. CX-7 is fitted with a turbocharged and intercooled 2.3-liter four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine similar to that fitted to the MAZDASPEED3, but producing 244 horsepower in this application. Mazda CX-7 delivers an estimated 23 mpg in combined driving.
Inside, the CX-7 is sporty with a high degree of craftsmanship. To draw drivers inside, there’s a three-dial instrument cluster, a console supporting the shifter within close reach, three-spoke steering wheel and firmly contoured front bucket seats, all provided with a high quality feel.
Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers.
